I visited St Peters Church in Bywell,Northumberland a couple of months ago and took four shots with the Intrepid 4×5 camera and Fomapan 100 film. I’ve previously shown one which was taken in the graveyard but could have been anywhere.
Here’s the other three. Click on any image for a larger view.
There is a tower in the distance which is a different church, just a hundred metres away. St Andrews Church is run by the Churches Conservation Trust and is also open for visiting.
The third image didn’t come out the way I planned. I tried to use a lot of forward tilt on the front axis, to get as much as possible of the flat gravestone in focus; but I used too much tilt, which caused vignetting on the upper corners. As it happens, I quite like the overall ghostly effect but I could have used a Holga rather than a large format camera to get something similar!
